Intersectional Identities Courses Instructional Design and Rise Development

ELB learning sub-contractor Intersectional Identities courses instructional design and Rise development

Instructional Design

As a contractor for ELB learning, I designed and developed four courses on Intersectional Identities.

The courses were created for managers, with one course released each quarter of the year. The course content explored the concept of intersectional identities and helped leaders understand how to lead diverse teams.

Topics covered included:

  • Race and ethnicity
  • Experiences (such as veteran status and socio-economic background)
  • Beliefs (such as religion)
  • Disabilities
  • Gender
  • Generation
  • Sexual orientation

For each topic, I worked with the company’s internal stakeholder to create rough outlines. She provided some references and content ideas from SMEs and I did research on the topics to write the content.

I compiled the content into a storyboard in Microsoft Word, which went through several cycles of reviews with the internal Instructional Designer and primary stakeholder as well as many other stakeholders throughout the company.

Throughout this process, I worked with project managers at ELB and we had weekly meetings with the client to discuss the project.

Development in Rise

Once the storyboards were approved, I developed the ten-to-fifteen minute modules in Articulate Rise.

Development included:

  • Developing the various content block types in Articulate Rise, including text, labeled graphics, tabs, accordions, process interactions, flashcards, timelines, images, multimedia, scenarios, and knowledge checks.
  • Closely following the company’s style guide.
  • Collaborating with graphic designers and making small graphic edits myself.
  • Selecting appropriate graphics.
  • Collecting and implementing feedback in Review 360.
  • Publishing the courses per the client’s requirements.
